# Templates

> Alaskan's two template kinds, team templates and workflow templates. Plain JSON, MIT-licensed, installable from the gallery and free to share or sell.

Alaskan for Business is set up from templates, and the templates are open: plain JSON under the **MIT licence**, so anyone can build, share or sell them without asking.

There are two kinds.

## Team templates

A whole setup for one kind of business, the way a Notion template is: its dogs (each with a job, a persona, rules, routines and apps), its dashboard, the workflows it installs, and sample work so a new workspace looks alive on day one.

## Workflow templates

A trigger and a graph of steps, the way an n8n workflow is: app actions, lookups, a browser task, thinking, waiting, branching, and at least one **Decide** step, an approval gate where the run waits for a person.

## Getting them

- Every template has a page on this site, and its JSON at the page's address plus `.json`: [/teams/starter.json](/teams/starter.json), [/workflows/invoice-chase.json](/workflows/invoice-chase.json).
- Through the API: `GET /v1/templates` lists them all; `GET /v1/templates/team/<slug>` and `GET /v1/templates/workflow/<slug>` return one whole. These need no sign-in.
- In the app: a workspace starts from a team template, `POST /v1/workspace/hire` adds one dog from any team template, and `POST /v1/workspace/workflows/install` adds a workflow.

## What's ours and what's yours

The template formats and the starter templates are MIT-licensed. Alaskan Cloud (hosting, the managed company computer, phone access and setup) is the paid product.
